Meet our Coaches

Meet our amazing team of coaches.

Ribal Abou-Haidar

Ribal, aka Legend, is FLYRS Alumni who is returning to the team as an Assistant Coach for the 2023-24 season.

Ian Wright

Ian rowed with the FLYRS from 2017 to 2021. In that time, he developed a deep appreciation for the dynamic mix of technical skill, physical strength, and mental fortitude required to compete at a high level in rowing. While these attributes are developed at every rowing club, what is unique about FLYRS is the emphasis on developing athletes into well-rounded people. It is this aspect of FLYRS that drew Ian into coaching. While he is excited to pass on his knowledge about the sport, he is most passionate about ensuring that FLYRS is, and always will be, a place that fosters empathy, resilience, and of course fun!

Caitlyn Santos

Caitlyn is also FLYRS Alumni who returned to the team as an Assistant Coach in 2023.

Recognizing Nadine Mross

Coach of FLYRS 2011-2025

Nadine was head coach of the FLYRS from 2011-2025. Having competed competitively in the sport previously, she brought knowledge and enthusiasm to push our rowers to the next level. Nadine was the foundation for this amazing rowing club - she brought a positive attitude and competitive spirit that touched so many young rowers. As she steps aside now to have a family of her own, she leaves many families touched by all that she put into the club over the years. Dedication, love and kindness in everything she did. Recognized as BC Coach of the Year AND RCA CANADA Coach of the Year 2024 right as she steps back, gives her the recognition she deserves. Thank you Nadine.
